It’s been 17 years since I wrote a little song about my new son, “Baby Buggy Boogie Woogie, Ryan James.” Now he’s taller than his old dad.

Today, he was elected Senior Class President for Mesa High School in Mesa, Arizona. I told him that he followed in my footsteps, but his class is 60 times larger than my class of 13 at Richfield High School in Idaho.

Ryan will make a great class president. He is an effective leader, primarily because he is a genuinely nice young man, whose heart is without guile.

My son, I salute you!
